Folklore Institution started its activities with the name of "Association for the Establishment of Turkish Folklore Institute for Higher Education Youth" on December 12, 1964 and continued its activities with the names of "Turkish Folklore Institution" in November 1966 and "Folklor Institution" in December 1972.
He aimed to make researches, reviews and compilations on Turkish Folklore by placing folklore as a whole and placing it on an academic base and establishing groups of folk dances and folk music performing activities and aiming to contribute to tourism and national culture and mullion by introducing Turkish Folklore both at home and abroad.
Folklore Association, Folklore Group, Compilation and Research Group, Folk Theater Group, Press-Publication, External Relations, Touristic Planning and Organizations, which are formed under the supervision of the President and the Board of Directors.
